GET THIS ALBUM - Xhale - "Slugabed"

Artist: Xhale
Album: Slugabed
Label: Miasmah
Year: 2004
Genre: Ambient, IDM
Website: www.miasmah.com

basics:

Going back in time a bit, this is a nice, nostalgic album from Xhale, who runs -- or at least ran, the Miasmah label. You probably haven't heard much from this guy, well, because this seems to be his only actual release and this project hasn't surfaced much in the last 6 years. I stumbled across the Miasmah label some years back, but Xhale was the only thing I kept from the journey.

why you should get it:
"Slugabed" is a nice mellow ambient/idm album. Listening to it is like re-living your most joyous surrealistic dreams. It's got subtle, interesting percussion atop a bed of abstract, dreamlike ambient textures. Reminds me of the good old 90s IDM, but with more focus on ambiance than beatwork. Imagine yourself living in one of those weird drug-inspired surrealist japanese video games, like Katamari Damency, and that's kinda what this album is like. Or living in the cd cover. It's a free release so if you like melodic old school IDM give this one a listen.

the label's website is not particularly easy to navigate, and I'm not even sure if they list the older releases, so perhaps the best place to get this release is: http://www.archive.org/details/mia056
